The world of decoration is one we encounter on a daily basis. Without the need for magic or mystery, Jean Descamps, founder of Am..., has found the successful formula for his company.
When you founded Am...., in 1988, the company we see today was a long way away...We started by focusing on ceramics and glassware. Our ranges became more diverse over the years. The idea is to be able to present a wide selection of what's taking place in the world of decoration, but without rushing to do so. We endorse skilled creativity; it's the only kind that can last.
Today, are you decorating the whole house ?Yes, and we aim to be true professionals for every collection. Our five buyers are all specialists in their field: tableware, furnishing textiles, furniture and home accessories. And we have recently developed a line of fashion accessories. We recently developed a "Birth gift" line, which perfectly rounds out the feminine side of decoration.
All this requires a genuinely creative team...Many interior design companies work with freelance designers as and when they need them. We, however, have chosen to work with five in-house designers. They are part of our team and are each very different. Each one has his own realm of ideas, and that's what makes their work interesting. This diversity enables Am... to vary between styles quite naturally. And that's also what appeals to our customers.
Are your collections distributed all over the world ?We have sales staff in the whole of France, in Spain, Italy, the UK and Benelux countries. We also have several sales outlets in the French overseas departments and territories, and in many other towns throughout the world.
Since the beginning, your company has been based near Lille, in France. Have you ever considered moving it to Paris ?
